What a pleasure it was to welcome the infamous Adam Purnell, aka Shropshire Lad to our distillery on the 23rd of July 2024! Adam is renowned for his Caribbean influenced food, cooked over charcoal and his visit to us was no exception. His café, Embers, located in Ironbridge is well worth a visit if you are in the area….but back to the day in question.
Adam arrived in the morning with his videographer in tow. After acclimatising himself to the surroundings he started setting up for the day. This included getting our mobile bar out of the distillery and getting his choice (yes he had more than one) of barbeque out of the back of his truck. Then he unloaded what looked like, and turned out to be, loads of food.
Being a brand ambassador for Meater and Kamado amongst many others, he has a lot on his plate. On this occasion though he prepared pork ribs, bbq’d pineapple and plantain chips followed by his signature smoked banana cake! What a treat this was!! He also knocked up a couple of cocktails using our collaboration Lad’s Rums as the base. Of the cocktails we all agreed the Bloody Marley was the star of the show – what a take on a Bloody Mary.
