The Spirit Duty increase

You may have read that on the 1st of August 2023 the Government went ahead with its increase in spirit duty. The briefings suggested a glossy picture with a few pence here and there, however, for small spirits producers like us the impact has been significant. On top of all the other ingredient increases we have faced over the years we now have to pay an additional 10.1% of spirit duty for every bottle of spirit that leaves our warehouse.

As an example, the duty we had to pay on a bottle of our London Dry Gin before the 1st of August, including VAT, was £10.84 and this has increased to £11.93 from the 1st of August!

We have not increased our prices since we launched our first product in March 2018, in fact we reduced them in June 2019!! Since then everything has increased in price, from energy to bottles, juniper to barley and spirit to water to name but a few.

The result of all of this is that unfortunately we had to increase our prices from the 1st of August 2023. The new prices are now reflected in our online shop.
